Laryngitis

|

Silence Is Golden

Recently I have been struck by laryngitis. This has been a yearly affliction, up until the last couple years, where I have been free of laryngitis. Having had a couple “gap years” I can appreciate the freedom of responsibility to have to participate in conversations or communicate in any way because after all, I cannot speak. This has allowed me the time and space to introspect on how my life is going, up to this point. Released from calling in church and called to a new one. New co-workers and therefore new dynamics at the office. Family aging, moving, shifting priorities, etc. There has been changes in my life, but really when isn’t there? Isn’t life one change after another? It can be hard at times to see where I fit in. Where is my stable ground? Fears: will I get left behind, forgotten? I cannot deny that these fears come up for me. Perhaps the solution is to hold those dear to me a little closer, cherish them, love them for what we have.
